A glimpse into the 'Pure Stone' collection

Pure Stone

Massive stone, formed over millions of years, with a characteristic dark veining. Precisely handcrafted into clean lines. Every edge, every line: the result of patient work.

The Pure Stone collection thrives on contrast. Smooth, polished surfaces make the stone shine, while textured areas reveal the raw power of the material.
Together they create a captivating interplay of precision and originality.

Bračer Stein

The stone used for all Pure Stone products is quarried exclusively on the Croatian island of Brač, as it is found only there. It is among the most prestigious natural stones in the world and enjoys a high reputation. For centuries, the island has been known for its exceptional stone and stonemasonry tradition.

Not only the Romans used the stone for their buildings, it can also be found in famous buildings today, including the White House in Washington DC and the Reichstag building in Berlin.

Magazine article: A visit to the quarry

Whether wine coolers, bowls or bookends – it all starts with the selection of suitable blocks at the quarry and the first cutting in the workshop.

Precision in detail

The processing of the stone is in the hands of a family business on Brač, which has been working with this special material for generations.

The blanks for our Vesna bowl and our Vedran wine cooler are hollowed out from whole blocks of stone before the finishing is done by hand.
Gradually, the cylindrical shape transforms into a finely balanced bowl.

With hammer and chisel

The hammered surfaces, which are found in many pieces of the collection, are created through patient handwork. The stone is shaped blow by blow.

In the final step, the surface is polished to a high gloss in several passes until the black grain of the stone is optimally highlighted.
Orange calcite

Pure Stone in earthy shades

In addition to white limestone, our Pure Stone collection also includes unique bowls made of brown calcite mineral.

Also found on the island, this wood, processed in the same family workshop, also creates the interplay of polished and natural surfaces. Its warm color brings an earthy, natural touch to the collection.

This mineral has long been attributed with special properties: it is considered a stone of transformation, strengthening courage, self-confidence, and intuition. Orange calcite, in particular, is said to positively influence mood and bring a bright, optimistic energy into everyday life.
Makers & Methods

Goran Buvinic

The pieces are crafted in a small family workshop on the Croatian island of Brač. The stonemason's craft has been passed down here for generations. Goran and his brothers continue the tradition with passion.

For Goran, working with stone is more than a craft – it's a dialogue with a material that has survived for millennia. Something that teaches him humility – and at the same time fills him with pride time and time again.

" The patience required makes it beautiful."

For him, the permanence of the stone is combined with the fleeting nature of the moment as a reflection of his craft.
